Expats and International Professionals

You’ve built a life in another country - but something feels off.

You thought you’d feel more fulfilled by now. Instead, you're caught between cultures, identities, and expectations. You may find it hard to explain what’s really wrong - even to yourself!

Living abroad can be exciting, inspiring, and full of opportunity - but it can also be lonely, overwhelming, and deeply unsettling.
You might have imagined a fresh start in another country would bring you happiness, but instead you feel disconnected, exhausted, or unsure who you really are anymore.

I provide online psychotherapy for expats, multicultural adults, and international professionals who are navigating the unique challenges of living and working across cultures.
Whether you’ve relocated for career opportunities, studies, or personal reasons, you may carry a constant sense of being “in-between” - never fully at home in one place or one identity.

Therapy can help you make sense of these feelings, manage the stress of adapting to new environments, and reconnect with yourself - no matter where in the world you are.

Common Challenges Expats and
International Professionals Face

Even if you’re outwardly coping well, you may be struggling with:

  • Homesickness or isolation despite social connections

  • Anxiety about adapting to a new culture, language, or work environment

  • Cultural identity conflicts - feeling torn between different values or expectations

  • Relationship strain caused by relocation stress or distance from loved ones

  • Loss of direction or meaning after moving abroad

  • Burnout from constantly adapting, performing, and keeping it all together

These struggles can show up as low mood, irritability, overthinking, or a sense of emotional numbness. Many of my clients tell me they feel like they’re living on autopilot - unable to fully relax or feel at home anywhere.

Why Online Therapy Works Well for
Expats and Professionals Abroad

When you’re living outside your home country, finding a therapist who understands your language and cultural background can be difficult.

Online psychotherapy removes the barriers of location, allowing you to:

  • Work with a licensed psychotherapist who speaks English and German fluently

  • Access therapy from anywhere - whether you’re in a major city or a remote area

  • Choose a therapist who understands multicultural experiences and international living

  • Schedule sessions flexibly, even across time zones

How I Support Expats and International Professionals

I offer evidence-based, culturally sensitive therapy, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and emotion-focused approaches, all grounded in an understanding of cross-cultural psychology, for adults navigating the emotional challenges of life abroad.

Our work together might include:

  • Exploring your identity and how different cultures have shaped you

  • Learning strategies to manage anxiety, overthinking, and emotional overwhelm

  • Building resilience to adapt to change without losing your sense of self

  • Strengthening relationships across distance or cultural differences

  • Finding meaning and clarity in your current stage of life

I tailor my approach to your needs, drawing from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic methods, and emotion-focused work.
Therapy can be in English, German, or a mix of both-many clients find code-switching natural and helpful.

What Makes My Approach Different

I’m not only a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist with extensive clinical experience, I also have lived experience navigating multiple cultures. I understand the unspoken challenges of expat life because I’ve been there myself.

You won’t have to spend the first session explaining the basics of relocation stress or cultural adaptation - I get it. This means we can focus on what really matters: your emotional well-being, your goals, and your sense of belonging.

Is Online Therapy Right for You?

You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many of my clients are high-functioning professionals who appear to be doing well from the outside, but inside they feel lost, stressed, or disconnected.

If you’ve been wondering:

  • “Why am I not happy, even though my life looks great on paper?”

  • “Why do I feel like I belong nowhere?”

  • “How do I stop overthinking everything?”

…then therapy can offer a safe, confidential space to explore these questions and find ways forward.
